Jason Richard Eschbaugh passed away on Sept. 2, 2023, at his home in Wilson at the age of 47. He was born on June 30, 1976, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Stephen “Steve” and Mary Jeanine (Thielen) Eschbaugh.

Jason came into this world a very happy soul. He loved sports at a very young age and couldn’t wait to be old enough to play. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1995. Throughout school he participated in baseball, football, basketball and track and made it to the state track meet one year. He attended Dodge City Community College and Fort Hays State University. He worked for the family business, Eschbaugh Advertising.

Jason never knew a stranger and would sometimes catch people off-guard with his friendliness. He was a very loyal friend and a great listener when you needed one. He had a fondness for the elderly. While he could be very stubborn, he could still see others’ points of view and you would never hear him judge anyone.

A diehard Denver Broncos fan, he was the epitome of the loyal fan, whether it was a good or awful season. He also enjoyed KU basketball and taking his brother Kevin to concerts. Jason always had great faith in God and prayed daily. As a young child, he was a server for morning Mass. Family was his priority and meant everything to him.

Jason is survived by his parents, Steve and Jeanine Eschbaugh, Wilson; and brothers Scott Eschbaugh, Overland Park, Kan., and Kevin Eschbaugh, Kansas City, Mo.

Jason was a good-hearted man who worked hard, enjoyed life and cherished his family and friends. Although he was taken from us far too soon, we know that those we enjoyed and loved, we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us. We can smile because he lived and left us with cherished memories that will live forever in our hearts. He will be remembered in love.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Wilson, Kan.

Memorials are suggested to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church or St. Joseph Catholic Church-Dorrance and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, P.O. Box 533, Wilson, KS 67490.
