Ronald Charles Soeken (1939-2024)

Ronald Charles Soeken, 85, retired farmer of Lorraine, Kan., passed away Nov. 4, 2024, in Maize, Kan., surrounded by his family. Ron married Peggy Olds from Wilson, Kan., on Aug. 12, 1964. They moved to the family farm in Ellsworth County, where Ron spent his life as a wheat farmer. After 58 years of farming, Ron and Peggy retired to Maize. In August, they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents William and Mamie (Kootz) Soeken; father and mother-in-law Francis and Gladys (Heinze) Olds; and sister-in-law Jan Soeken. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Peggy; daughters Kristin Webb, Sandra Barton and Cinda (Joe) Lohmann; brother Cecil Soeken; seven grandchildren; brother-in-law Alan (Wilma) Olds; and six nieces and nephews.

A memorial service, with luncheon following, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 N. Tyler, Wichita, KS 67212. A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to Ascension Lutheran Church. Floral designs are from Moore Flowers, Wichita.
