Robert Rodene Sutton (1941-2024)
Robert Rodene Sutton, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, in Seymour, Tenn. Robert was born on May 9, 1941, in Williamsburg, Ky., to Raymond Sutton and Edna Marie Meaders Sutton. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Sutton and sister Marcella (Tony) Marcum.
On Oct. 3, 1981, Robert married the love of his life, Dana Rae Rush, in Ellsworth, Kan. They met each other in Kansas, where they both worked at Citizens State Bank. Robert excelled in banking and sales. He served his country and took immense pride in being a Marine. Dana and Robert moved to Seymour in 1990, where Robert worked in automotive sales, helping all his family and friends get the best deal and ride away in style.
Robert devoted his life to raising his son, Evan Robert Sutton, and teaching him how to work hard in all he did. He found immense joy in his garden and having the most pristine lawn on the block. When he was not in his garden or lawn, he was working on his Belair or Chevy truck, singing to Elvis. Above all of his hobbies, from antiquing to gardening, Robert loved spending time with his family, and especially his two grandsons Brooks Robert and Brantley Gene Sutton. He held the Sutton family together with his contagious laugh and loving heart.
As we remember Robert’s legacy, keep close his favorite musician Elvis Presley, “Love me tender, love me true, all my dreams fulfill. For my darling I love you, and I always will.”
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Dana (Rush) Sutton, his son Evan (Meghan) Sutton, Slinger, Wis., and daughter Maria Lemoine, Lawrence, Kan.; two grandchildren, Brooks and Brantley Sutton; sister Edith Kellis and many relatives and close friends.
