Sherry Sue Ford (1951-2020)

Sherry Sue Ford of Wilson, Kan. passed away April 12, 2020 in Hutchinson, Kan., at the age of 68. She was born July 31, 1951 to Eldon and Helen (Small) Lingo in Ellsworth, Kan. Sherry was united in marriage to Steve Ford Dec. 31, 1970 in Loomis, Neb. They were blessed with three children: Stacy, Sasha and Steven.

Sherry was raised in Wilson until the 5th grade. She then moved to Loomis, Neb., where she met her husband, and stayed until graduating from high school. She then went on to Joseph’s College of Cosmetology in Hastings, Neb. After graduating Cosmetology school, Sherry and her husband moved back to her home town of Wilson, Kan. 

Sherry spent her years raising her family. Along with caring for her family, she enjoyed spending time on their family farm raising sheep and goats among other animals, and lovingly tending to her beautiful garden. She also enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, and was often found learning new crafts such as crocheting and making bath bombs. 

Sherry was a fan of Kansas State Basketball, and enthusiastically cheered for them whenever she could. Go Cats. She was devoted to her family and the Lord above all else, and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Sherry’s kindness and love was felt by all who knew her and those who knew her best will carry her heart with them always. 

Sherry is survived by her husband, Steve Ford of Wilson; children, Stacy Cole and her husband Jeff of Olathe, Kan., Sasha Ford and his wife Shari of Great Bend, Kan., Steven Ford and his wife Amanda of Kansas City, Kan.; as well as two grandchildren, Rhys and Kymper; and her brother, Terry Lingo of Wichita, Kan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eldon Lingo and Helen and Herb Paulsen.

A private family service has been chosen for the protection of the community due to the current pandemic.
