Alice A. (Wollert) Sheridan (1920-2019)

Posted in:

Alice A. (Wollert) Sheridan passed away on Aug. 4, 2019, in Junction City, Kan. She was born on a farm northwest of Dorrance during harvest on July 1, 1920, and was raised on a farm southwest of Wilson. Alice attended the Cliff School, a one-room schoolhouse.
Alice was the eighth of nine children and was pre-deceased by all of her brothers and sisters.
After leaving home, Alice worked at the Blackwolf store in Blackwolf where she had many good friends and made many happy memories.
She met her soon-to-be husband, Bob, in Ellsworth when he came riding up on his white horse named Babe.  Alice became an Army wife and the mother of three boys.
Later in life, Alice began working in the kitchen at Lincoln Elementary School in Junction City. She worked there for 37 years, retiring at the age of 91.
Alice loved to cook and cooked everything from scratch.  She was known for her homemade chicken noodle soup, her bierocks and her pies.
Alice was always sad to see the summers fade away. She loved listening to the cicadas and the turtle doves. She loved watching the full moon rise and the setting of the sun. She  loved life in spite of the tragedies she endured.  She did not slip away easily.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, Bob; and by two of her three sons, Randy and Reno.
She is survived by one son, Rob; four grandchildren, Ashley, Shayna, Wesley and Nathan; and by many dear nephews and nieces.
Per Alice’s request, her body has been cremated, and there will be no services.
Donations can be made in her memory to stjude.org or shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
