Restrictions lifted for Ellsworth County. Recommendations made instead.

Ellsworth County Health Department, in consultation with county officials and health officer, will not impose any official orders on businesses or residents of Ellsworth County. We will continue to urge residents of Ellsworth County to follow recommendations put out by our county and the state. Dear Ellsworth County Residents,

 

Effective 5/27/2020 at 12:01 a.m., the Governor’s previously issued executive orders regarding limitations and restrictions for businesses and individuals were lifted, specifically, the Ad Astra Plan to Reopen Kansas.

 

Ellsworth County Health Department, in consultation with county officials and health officer, will not impose any official orders on businesses or residents of Ellsworth County. We will continue to urge residents of Ellsworth County to follow recommendations put out by our county and the state. These are recommendations that we feel are important and necessary for the health and safety of our community. 

 

Strong recommendations for Ellsworth County include:

 

  • Mass gatherings of no more than 30 individuals
  • Masks are strongly encouraged in public settings
  • Maintain 6 foot social distancing
  • If you are sick, stay home
  • Minimize or avoid nonessential travel
  • Follow good hygiene – use of hand sanitizer and washing hands frequently

Governor Kelly retained 10 executive orders and ECHD encourages citizens to review. They can be found at the following link: https://governor.kansas.gov/newsroom/executive-orders/. The following mandates and recommendations from KDHE (Kansas Department of Health and Environment) are still in effect after May 26th, 2020.

 

  • Travel-related quarantines
  • Public health isolation & quarantine orders
  • Face covering recommendations
  • Cleaning recommendations
  • Industry-specific guidelines

 

Ellsworth County will continue to monitor the COVID-19 activity in our county and make decisions based on the safety and health of our community. COVID-19 is still an active virus and is still a threat to everyone. This is not the time to let our guard down and everyone needs to act in a responsible way to protect yourself and others around you. Ellsworth County Health Department retains the statutory duty of isolation and quarantine for individuals who test positive for COVID-19 as well as close contacts. If there is a sudden increase of cases in Ellsworth County, local health officials do reserve the right to implement restrictions.
