GREAT BEND — The Central Plains High School Lady Oilers basketball team won their eighth straight state basketball title March 12, during the Kansas State High School Activities Association’s Girl’s Class 1A Division II championship game against Rexford- Golden Plains, at Barton Community College in Great Bend.

Read moreWILSON — The Wilson High School Lady Dragons hosted the Otis-Bison Lady Cougars in the first round of substate basketball tournament Friday, Feb. 25. The Dragons were hot in the first quarter outscoring their opponent 12-5. The second quarter was more of an even matchup of 8-7 taking the Dragons to halftime with a 20-12 lead. Returning for the second half the Dragons continued to lead the Lady Cougars, outscoring them 13-11 to bring the score at the end of the third quarter to 33- 23. Otis-Bison attempted to battle back, outscoring the Lady Dragons 9-13 in the fourth quarter. Despite their efforts the Lady Dragons came out on top with a final score of 42-36.
